Nitya and Matthew met in high school and continued their love at the University of Cincinnati. Nitya went to St. Louis for medical school while Matthew stayed back in Cincinnati to obtain his Master’s Degree in computer science. Long distance aws not easy, but they made it work! During one of the visits to St. Louis, Nitya had planned a touristy day of visiting the Gateway Arch for Matthew and their friends. By the time they ascended to the top, Nitya was too scared to look over the edge because the Arch was swaying back and forth in the wind. Matthew encouraged her to look down, where she saw a huge sign that said “Nitya Marry Me?” and a large group of people in matching white T-shirts. Matthew and all of their friends and family had been orchestrating this grand proposal for months without Nitya’s knowledge, using their engineering skills to create the giant sign, securing permits from the St. Louis police, and even notifying the local news. It was a huge success, and as one newscaster covering their proposal said, Nitya and Matthew are “a couple so happy, you just might hate them.”
Their 6.1.19 wedding was equally a success with a beautiful fusion of western and Indian traditions. We wish this couple so much happiness!
