Cincy Event Planning is a full service special occasion event and wedding planning company that was created by our founder Julie Schmidt. Julie planned her first wedding in 2003 and by 2006 she was planning weddings and events full time. In the fall of 2015 Stephanie Porter took over ownership. Our goal is to help ease the stress of event planning at any stage of the planning process. We focus on classic, elegant design with modern style and a touch of whimsy.

I never dreamed that I would one day be a Wedding and Event Planner, but you never know where life will take you! I have two degrees in science and always thought I would work in that field. But in 2014, while looking for a creative outlet, I stumbled upon the Cincy Event Planning internship and by the end of 2015 I had taken over ownership!

Now as a Certified Wedding Planner, I absolutely love the wedding and event planning world. It brings me so much joy to take the stress out of the planning and coordinating process for my clients. When I'm not planning weddings and events, I am spending time with my wonderful husband, Chris, and our one year old daughter, Arya. I love animals (we have 1 dog and 3 cats!), reading, exploring Cincinnati, decorating our home, and watching movies at home with a glass of wine!

Having the owner as a sister, it was easy for Samantha to step into the world of event planning. While this wasn't a career she had originally envisioned for herself, she quickly learned she had a knack and love for it. Her favorite parts of weddings are helping to organize the day and watching the little parts come together creating a beautiful final result! Outside of event planning, Samantha works at an animal hospital and loves spending time with her family and cat, Dex.


Ali knew events were her thing from a young age. While the industry is nothing like the Jennifer Lopez movie, watching The Wedding Planner inspired Ali to pursue event planning as a career. Self-proclaimed type A, she has a knack for organization and making the most out of each and every day. Ali takes pleasure in getting to know her clients on a personal level to be sure their events reflect their individual style and personality.


Since starting her internship with CEP in 2014, Sydney’s life has revolved around events—from large scale events at Kings Island and Coney Island, to fun events for property management, to doing what brings her the most joy—weddings! Sydney’s passion for working with people and her attention to detail continue to help bring every event to life, whether planning large-scale corporate/group events in the region or helping you plan perfect moments for your unique, memorable celebration.
